HVAC Estimator
About the role
The AER Commercial Estimator supports estimating efforts for applied product lines by preparing accurate, timely cost estimates and proposals for HVAC projects. This role manages projects from bid receipt through submission, analyzing mechanical plans to evaluate system capacity, design feasibility, and code compliance, while suggesting design adjustments as needed. The Commercial Estimator collaborates with internal teams, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure proposals are complete, competitive, and aligned with project requirements. Additionally, this position serves as a key resource to customers, sales teams, and branch personnel by delivering reliable project information and responsive help desk support.
Responsibilities
- Receive requests for quotations and prepare responses in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare cost estimates by analyzing Mechanical plans / HVAC Plans and project requirements.
- Confer with customers, sales account managers, and/or outside sales engineers to assess equipment needs and determine system requirements for projects.
- Plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs.
- Generate submittals which include accurate drawings and product data.
- Recommend improved products, systems, or equipment to customers, specifying how such changes will lower costs or increase efficiency.
- Serve as internal AER resource to project stakeholders, including customers, sales account managers, branch teams, and outside sales engineers.
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements, support and promote the sale of company products, and provide technical support.
- Provide technical and non-technical support and services to customers, architects, engineers, or colleagues regarding the use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize DNE’s CRM platform and other required business systems.
- Basic understanding of the refrigeration cycle.
- Some understanding of HVAC systems preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Positive, flexible attitude with a can-do approach to solving challenges.
- Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics, and integrity on the job.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required; engineering degree preferred.
- Previous HVAC experience preferred but not required.

Pay
$65,000–$75,000 per year.
