Hvac Design Engineer
About the role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will join a dedicated in-house engineering group responsible for HVAC system design and limited plumbing design support. This role supports design-build project delivery, working directly alongside internal fabrication, installation, BIM, and electrical teams to develop efficient, constructible mechanical systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop HVAC system designs and construction documents, including drawings and specifications, for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations using Trace or similar software and evaluate system options based on performance, constructability, and project requirements
- Select mechanical equipment and systems; size ductwork, hydronic piping, and plumbing components
- Coverge with equipment manufacturers and vendors to develop compliant, site-specific design solutions
- Conduct field surveys and existing conditions assessments in support of proposals and active projects
- Contribute to project planning by adjusting design approaches and supporting detailed design phases
- Prepare, review, and verify engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation
- Cookordinate mechanical designs with other disciplines using Revit and Navisworks, resolving clashes and constructability concerns
- Provide ongoing coordination and technical support throughout the design and construction process
Qualifications
- 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience (HVAC or plumbing systems)
- If a candidate is lighter in HVAC/Plumbing experience here they need to make up for it with strong Revit or technical experience
- Revit design proficiency
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to coordinate between disciplines on the design
Nice-to-Haves
- Commercial and industrial systems experience is preferred
- Experience from design consulting firms is also preferred
- Project Exposure: Industrial and manufacturing facilities, Warehouse and tenant improvement projects, Commercial buildings including higher education, K-12, hospitality, office, and large food service facilities

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fishers, IN.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $46.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
