Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and operate complete building control systems with a focus on HVAC Controls to meet project requirements.
- Develop complex software programs, commission, and troubleshoot to ensure proper operations of the building control system.
- Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required.
- Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per project requirements.
- Coordinate the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
- Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects.
- Coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedules.
- Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers.
- Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades.
- Provide field change information to the project team for as-built drawings and software updates.
- Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
- Collect and input data to track project progress using collaborative dashboards.
- Assist in performing site-specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
- Participate in release meetings with the project field team.
- Perform value engineering to provide cost-effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with project owners to determine engineering and field execution task responsibilities.
- Provide work directions to Systems Design Assistants and other assigned project resources.
- Adhere to safety standards with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of three years of experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with five years of relevant work experience; or equivalent work experience (with no degree) as a commercial HVAC Controls Technician, Engineer, or Installer.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the HVAC industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems from a design, installation, and/or commissioning perspective.
- Demonstrated experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e., LON, BacNet, etc.).
- Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly computer-related drafting tools.
- Willingness to travel to job sites outside of the area as needed to support customer needs.
