About the role

The Controls Systems Lead Engineer for Enterprise Accounts serves as the single point of contact for assigned accounts, providing engineering support across all construction events and geographies within their domain. This role ensures adherence to Enterprise Account engineering standards, supports sales teams with customer education, and represents engineering during pre-bid activities. The Lead Engineer reviews shop drawings for conformance with customer expectations and ensures design milestones are met for Enterprise Account requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Implements customers’ standard design requirements and processes within the JCI organization.
  • Supports the development and execution of enterprise-wide equipment engineering practices, content, and solutions for enterprise accounts.
  • Works closely with Enterprise customers and JCI field organization to align with defined strategies.
  • Develops and maintains high-level relationships within Enterprise account clients.
  • Works effectively with Regional and Branch teams.
  • Develops and maintains communication platforms for transferring design standards to centralized engineering and field organization, focusing on standardization, efficiency, and quality.
  • Drives initiatives to address and solve identified Enterprise account needs, coordinates field implementation, and provides KPI reporting when requested.
  • Provides design documentation for user management, disaster recovery, standard naming conventions, and dBase details.
  • Ensures JCI Branch/District organization has access to databases, software, and standard documentation, keeping all data updated and available.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for building technology, including analytics, optimization algorithms, server and network design, cyber security, system software suites, and hardware engineering.
  • Works across multiple engineering/design teams and locations to ensure consistency and standard practices while optimizing engineering efficiency.
  • Provides sales and high-level technical support to field organizations for implementing enterprise-level initiatives and engineered solutions.
  • Coordinates the resolution of escalated engineering issues.
  • For HVAC controls, coordinates Enterprise Support Engineer activities with Metasys Servers and Digital Platforms, including system performance, access, backups, and patching.
  • Ensures all buildings comply with the owner's network prior to conversion from the ROC to the active owner's system after testing.
  • Proficient in loading and commissioning system and network-level controllers as required.
  • Validates complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Identifies and implements field change information for the creation of as-built drawings and software.
  • Keeps management, JCI contractors, or customers informed of job progress and issues.
  • Organizes and performs site-specific training for owners/operators on the total building control system.
  • Implements and promotes safety standards, ensuring a high degree of employee and subcontractor safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the integration of low-voltage building subsystems using industry protocols (e.g., LON, BACnet).
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in computer-related drafting tools.
  • Ability to think broadly about the implementation of JCI products and digital platforms to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork-oriented with attention to detail, adaptability, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for issue resolution.
  • Familiarity with multiple graphic packages and computer language skill sets.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Ability to drive the construction process, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Logical thinking and reasoning abilities.

Pay

Hiring salary range: $89,000.00 - $119,000.00 USD annually. Salary is determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment.
