HVAC Control Mechanic

About the role

Perform maintenance, installation, and repair work on instrumentation control systems (pneumatic and electronic) serving HVAC systems, equipment, and components. Also performs installations, repairs, and fabrication of sheet metal/metal components related to HVAC and other trades. This work is performed under general supervision using the tools and techniques of HVAC technology.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex automatic temperature control problems in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Install, calibrate, and maintain pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls.
• Operate Andover Infinity and Johnson Metasys systems proficiently.
• Perform sheet-metal installation, repairs, and fabrication.
• Use tools and equipment safely, including precision measuring instruments (dial indicators and calipers), powered portable, bench, and hand tools (such as drills, grinders, compressed air), as well as non-powered hand tools.
• Apply knowledge of HVAC instrumentation and control, sheet-metal work, and safety practices as defined by OSHA and industry standards.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of journeyman experience working as an HVAC Technician in commercial, industrial, or large facilities environments.
• Successful completion of formal training in the HVAC trade at a vocational or technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor organization. Full-time equivalent time spent in a state-approved program may count toward the 5-year work experience requirement.
• Training in instrumentation control systems (pneumatic and electronic) serving HVAC systems and components.
• Knowledge of safety rules, procedures, and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment.

Pay

$35–$40 per hour
