HVAC Commercial Start-up Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-functional inspections and complete start-up checklists for chillers, boilers, air handlers, VRF units, split systems, and other commercial HVAC equipment
• Conduct diagnostics and make necessary repairs on refrigeration systems during start-up and warranty periods
• Interpret control schematics, high-voltage wiring diagrams, and manufacturer-provided installation documentation
• Absorb and prepare field-installed devices and components prior to start-up
• Work closely with commissioning agents and complete all commissioning documentation
• Document inspection results, start-up data, identified issues, and corrective actions

Requirements

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in commercial HVAC equipment installation and start-up
• Strong understanding of HVAC system operations, refrigeration circuits, and equipment sequence of operations
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, blueprints, submittals, and manufacturer manuals
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or iPad-based field reporting tools
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues
• VRF installation and start-up experience preferred
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures

• Support field operations by ensuring proper execution of start-up procedures and accurate documentation for all assigned HVAC systems
