HVAC Building Controls Engineering Leader

Join a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings. Supervise a team of Engineers to perform hardware engineering, software engineering, and network-level commissioning for projects. Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements, and operate with the highest ethics. Develop cost-effective engineering processes while maintaining consistent delivery and customer satisfaction. Serve as an expert in application engineering and collaborate effectively with Major Projects and Branch teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage and schedule the workload of the Systems Engineering Team, prioritizing work and coordinating projects to ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
- Provide timeframe estimates to project management for job cost evaluation.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and communicate Systems Engineering team processes, strategies, and standards.
- Provide engineering cost estimates during project development phases.
- Seek new and creative applications and operational techniques to improve quality, reliability, and productivity.
- Implement improvements in processes, facilities, tools, and equipment to provide leading-edge technology.
- Provide advanced technical support on application or implementation issues.
- Serve as the Regional expert in application engineering.
- Lead a team of Systems Engineers to select controllers and end devices that meet specifications while minimizing total installation cost.
- Utilize financial, contract management, and other reports to evaluate team success.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, and architect engineers.
- Maintain a high level of engineering standards and ensure maximum reuse of proven designs and programs.
- Perform complex engineering and support network commissioning on assigned projects.
- Hire, retain, mentor, and manage the performance of direct reports, including preparing performance expectations, reviews, and development plans.
- Work with Major Projects and Branch teams to ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
- Adhere to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a minimum of two years of experience in Application engineering. If no degree, a minimum of eight years of HVAC programming/controls experience.
- Johnson Controls systems experience preferred.
- Experience in the HVAC industry and programming controls.
- Prior experience in supervision of a technical/engineering group.
- Minimum of five years of progressive responsibility in the construction industry.
- Recognized as a leading expert in several core engineering competencies.
- Understanding of accounting principles and cost management.
- Good oral and written communication skills, especially in the presentation of technical material.

Pay
Hiring salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 (determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment). This role offers a competitive bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance.
