HVAC & Boiler Plant Manager

Aramark Healthcare+ is seeking candidates to support Facility Operations at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, a 386-bed facility.

About the role

This position supervises all unit activities related to facility maintenance and engineering services, including HVAC, boiler house, and day-to-day maintenance. The manager oversees hourly associates, collaborates with leadership to plan and direct activities, and ensures compliance with Aramark and client standards. The role focuses on meeting operational goals, client objectives, and customer needs while fostering effective working relationships across departments for unified Plant Operations & Maintenance (POM) management.

Responsibilities

• Manages and prioritizes maintenance work orders for MEP, HVAC, boilers, and chillers.
• Ensures effective execution of department strategies and initiatives to meet company and client needs with high standards of excellence, urgency, and predictability.

• Assists with managing labor costs, supply costs, and inventories.
• Maintains and uses capital equipment efficiently.
• Ensures compliance with all contract obligations and regulatory agency standards.
• Supports the implementation of a comprehensive Safety Plan and drives compliance with safety rules, guidelines, and protocols.
• Conducts operational audits to ensure high execution and compliance.
• Drives operational efficiencies and labor/scheduling productivity.
• Translates corporate strategy into front-line operational tactics and ensures compliance with government, local, and other safety regulations.
• Establishes and maintains effective communications and business relationships.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience supervising or managing a boiler plant.
• Experience in a healthcare/hospital environment and knowledge of Joint Commission regulatory compliance preferred.
• Working knowledge of building systems, including boilers, chillers, generators, HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, with a focus on preventive maintenance.
• Operational and repair experience with high-pressure steam boilers, steam plants, HVAC equipment, and chillers.
• Chief Engineer’s license is preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a union workforce is a plus.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000.
