About the role
At Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector in Magna, UT, you will be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite with no telecommute option. Primary assignment is in the Maintenance Department – HVAC, performing corrective maintenance and construction of designated buildings within the Bacchus plant. Travel is required approximately 10% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair HVAC systems across the plant.
- Troubleshoot and repair typical industrial electrical equipment, including robotics, air compressors, electric generators, DC & AC motor controllers, overhead cranes, hydraulics, pneumatics, camera systems, and security systems.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on industrial refrigeration systems.
- Install raceways, enclosures, lighting systems, wiring systems/devices, motors, pumps and related industrial electrical equipment.
- Position requires the ability to understand and troubleshoot from electrical/instrumentation schematics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass the Safe Explosives Act (SEA) background check.
- Troubleshooting experience with refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent work ethic and ambition.
Qualifications
- 5 years’ experience working at a manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of SCADA control systems and how they function.
- Knowledge of screw, reciprocating and scroll chillers.
- Experience with steam heat exchangers for hot water loop systems and steam coils.
- Knowledge of industrial ventilation, installation and maintenance of industrial refrigeration equipment and computer climate control systems.
- Welding/brazing and leak checking with an electronic leak detector, evacuating with the use of a micron gauge and charging of the unit.
- Electrical wiring including low voltage.
- Understanding of Maximo CMMS is a plus.
- Experience with building automation systems, A/C and refrigeration compressor retrofits, service and installation of natural gas-fired equipment, and food service equipment service and installation (freezers, refrigerators and ice machines).
- Familiarity with AC/DC drives, VFD’s, and servo systems.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot using electrical/instrumentation schematics.
- Experience working with 480 Volt / 3 phase equipment.
- General experience in electrical, refrigeration, HVAC and instrumentation.
