Associate Husbandry Operations Director
Key Responsibilities
Facility Oversight: Manage daily operations, including per diem billing, SOP development, equipment/supply procurement, and coordination of space to meet the needs of research faculty.
Leadership & Mentorship: Direct supervision of Husbandry and Cage Wash Supervisors; oversight of indirect reports ranging from Associate to Senior Research Technicians.
Regulatory Excellence: Maintain facility compliance with USDA Animal Welfare Act and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals; lead bi-annual IACUC inspections.
Operational Excellence: Oversee animal census, facility maintenance, and sanitation records while ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Animal Science. Master’s in Laboratory Animal Science preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years direct research animal care experience, including three (3) years of direct supervisory experience.
Certifications: LAT required. LATG certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire. Must enroll in the CMAR program within 18 months of start date.
Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of research animal husbandry, diets, rodent colony management, and breeding colony management.
