Employer of Record: SQN Systems. Assignment with Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) – Behavioral Health and Crisis Services (BHCS), Trauma Services. Location: 1301 Piccard Drive, 4th Floor, Rockville, MD 20850. Full-time, 40 hours per week. Telework eligible. Overtime not eligible. Rate: $27.00/hr.

About the role

This role provides trauma-informed intake, assessment, and bilingual case management services to individuals impacted by trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, and involvement in the criminal justice system. The position requires candidates who are comfortable working with court-mandated individuals and offender populations, including those involved in the criminal justice system. The work environment may involve managing client resistance, behavioral challenges, and complex family dynamics, particularly in cases involving domestic violence. Candidates must be prepared for a structured, accountability-driven setting.

Responsibilities

  • Intake & Assessment
    • Obtain client-specific information including trauma history, mental health/substance use concerns, and eligibility factors
    • Conduct initial and follow-up assessments in both English and Spanish
    • Determine program eligibility and provide referrals
  • Case Management
    • Provide bilingual information, guidance, and direct linkage to community programs, services, and benefits
    • Collaborate with criminal justice providers
    • Participate in case consultation meetings with internal and external partners
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and timely case records
    • Prepare reports for supervisors and external entities, including court-related documentation when applicable
  • Department & Community Engagement
    • Participate in supervision, department meetings, and required trainings
    • Provide education and outreach to community agencies
    • Assist with development of outreach materials and informational literature

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or related field
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in human services involving substantive client contact and service delivery
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse cultures and reduce barriers to service
  • Knowledge of trauma and victimization dynamics
  • Experience within the Criminal Justice system
  • Experience in trauma-informed care
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (required)
  • Must pass CJS and CWS background checks
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • All bilingual candidates will be subject to language proficiency verification as part of the screening process and must successfully pass a 60-question bilingual (Spanish) assessment

Candidates must demonstrate baseline qualifications with a strong emphasis on relevant experience working with offender populations, domestic violence cases, and court-involved individuals. Experience navigating the criminal justice system, including court processes and documentation, is highly valued.

Interview Process

  • Interviews are conducted onsite
  • Typically scheduled 2–3 weeks in advance to allow candidates time to prepare for in-person attendance
  • Format: Panel interview
  • Duration: 30–45 minutes

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work
  • Standard work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (evenings/weekends may be required)
  • Travel required

Pay

$27.00 per hour. Payment is issued weekly through SQN Systems via direct deposit. Timekeeping is managed through SQN’s payroll system, iSolved.
