About the Role

Interning with Dream Africa Care Foundation allows you to contribute to human rights advocacy in Africa, particularly in Ghana. Many African nations formally recognize human rights, but enforcement remains inconsistent, leading to ongoing abuses. Interns are placed with two key organizations:

• The Human Rights Advocacy Center (HRAC) – Based in Accra, HRAC focuses on promoting and protecting human rights through research, education, and advocacy. Their work includes:
• Rule of Law and Access to Justice
• Respect of the Constitution
• Police Accountability
• Children’s Rights and Women’s Rights
• Right to Information
• Addressing issues such as reproductive rights, harmful traditional practices (e.g., female circumcision), rape, child trafficking, assault, unlawful detention, and eviction
• Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) – An independent organization dedicated to monitoring and upholding human rights for all.

Responsibilities

• Support human rights monitoring and advocacy efforts
• Assist in research, education, and awareness campaigns
• Contribute to projects addressing police accountability, children’s rights, women’s rights, and access to justice
• Engage with issues such as reproductive rights, child trafficking, unlawful detention, and eviction
