About the role
The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is excited to welcome a Human Resources Trainee to our Classification Unit. This 1-2 year development program is designed to help you build expertise in job classification within public sector HR.
Responsibilities
- Review job duties and identify the essential functions of a role;
- Update and help write job class descriptions that clearly reflect duties and qualifications;
- Compare roles across agencies to ensure consistency and alignment;
- Learn how classification impacts hiring, compensation, and workforce planning;
- Collaborate with HR partners across the state to gather information and verify job duties.
Requirements
To be eligible, you must have recently graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree. No specific experience or training is required at the time of application, but you must meet the requirements of the designated class at the end of the development program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree obtained by date of hire;
- Experience with using formulas, sorting, and filtering in Microsoft Excel to review information;
- Experience using cloud-based platforms (such as OneDrive, SharePoint, or similar) to organize files;
- Experience researching, analyzing, and interpreting documentation to identify relevant information and summarize content accurately;
- Experience writing original content using proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.

Pay
The pay for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience. Details will be provided upon successful completion of the training period.
Schedule
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position with a first shift starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM and ending at 5:00 PM.
