Location: Chattanooga, TN – Department of Transportation, Hamilton County. Hybrid schedule: three days in-office, two days remote.
Pay
$4,057 – $5,078 monthly ($48,684 – $60,936 annually).
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process routine HR transactions: advertisements, appointments, transfers, promotions, leave requests, and employee-data updates; ensure accuracy and compliance with state record-keeping requirements and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate new-hire logistics, prepare orientation materials, gather documentation, and assist with onboarding to deliver a positive, efficient experience aligned with TDOT standards.
- Respond to standard employee inquiries on HR policies, pay schedules, and basic benefits; escalate complex or sensitive questions to senior staff.
- Maintain employee files, records, and logs in HR systems to meet retention standards; organize and update HR documents, onboarding checklists, and audit materials.
- Coordinate recruitment logistics: post vacancies on Tennessee and TDOT platforms, schedule interviews, organize applicant documentation, and maintain candidate-selection records.
- Review HR support workflows, tools, and work products to identify opportunities for consistency, accuracy, and compliance with TDOT policies.
- Support leave-program administration (FMLA, workers’ compensation) by maintaining records, tracking events, and ensuring proper routing and communication.
- Assist with employee-engagement programs: prepare communications, track participation, and coordinate logistics for activities, events, and campaigns to foster a respectful, inclusive workplace culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Qualifying full-time professional or paraprofessional HR experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (maximum four years).
