The Human Resources Specialist V (Classification & Compensation) position involves classification and compensation management work, dealing with complex and controversial issues. The role includes:

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and recommending position classifications for various positions
  • Conducting classification desk audits, surveys, and studies
  • Researching and developing new or revised class specifications and minimum qualification requirements
  • Analyzing classes of work to determine appropriate pricing and providing comments on inter-jurisdictional equal pay reviews
  • Gathering information and responding to salary surveys
  • Conducting organizational reviews and analyses
  • Providing technical advice and assistance to programs and divisions
  • Performing other duties as required

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Education: Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or progressively responsible experience in administrative, professional, investigative, technical, or other responsible work which has provided a general background in management, education, training, or human resources administration.
  • Experience: Three and one-half (3-1/2) years of professional experience in human resources management functions such as recruitment, placement, examinations, position classification, compensation or wage administration, employee management relations and services, employee development, human resources program development and services, labor relations, and human resources research.
  • Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in human resources compensation management demonstrating knowledge of job evaluation and pricing, or knowledge and familiarity with position classification in a government system.
  • Selective Certification Requirement: Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of job evaluation and pricing, or knowledge and familiarity with position classification in a government system.
