About the role
You will provide support to Human Resources in areas such as staffing, training and development, and employee relations.
Responsibilities
- Support managers with recruiting and selecting qualified candidates for positions.
- Screens applications and resumes, responds to inquiries about available positions, forwards information on potential candidates to appropriate management for review, and conducts applicant screening.
- Ensures completion of all pre-employment and new-hire processes for new associates, including background checks, MVRs, pre-employment physicals, drug screenings, reference checks, new hire paperwork, and orientation and training compliance.
- Conducts E-Verify and ensures compliance with I-9 requirements.
- Participates in career fairs and generates employment ads for classified publications and internet job sites, schedules candidate interviews, and answers applicant questions about the application and hiring process.
- Compiles charts and reports as needed, recognizes inconsistencies in reports, and brings them to management’s attention.
- Coordinates TSA compliance activities.
- Drafts, copies, files, faxes, and mails various staffing-related paperwork and correspondence, including employment reference checks and verifications.
- Processes unemployment claims and handles appeals.
- Tracks invoices for advertising bills and verifies proper charges.
- Provides occasional coverage for the switchboard.
- Interacts with applicants by telephone and email on a daily basis.
- Interacts with hiring managers, administrative staff, and members of the Safety Department during the new hire process, orientation, and training.
- Interacts with unemployment and workforce commissions on a weekly basis.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED, 2 years of administrative experience, preferably within Human Resources, and a valid Driver's License.
- A preference for an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, and 4 years of administrative experience.
