About the role

As a Human Resources Process Team Leader, you drive change, remove obstacles, and develop inclusive talent strategies to support a guest-focused mission. You champion recruiting efforts, collaborate with Talent Acquisition to attract and retain the right talent, and ensure profitable growth by developing high-performing and engaged teams. This role provides meaningful experiences to build skills for a career, including planning HR workloads, interpreting financial data, following employment laws, recruiting, event organization, and leading a team of hourly HR Experts.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience.
  • Train and hold team members accountable for guest experience commitments and operational consistency.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, improve performance, and align teams on behaviors that elevate the guest experience.
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing Target practices, supporting team onboarding, learning, and career growth.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where teams value diverse voices, authenticity, and equitable experiences.
  • Support compliance training by planning, tracking, and validating team member training.
  • Implement schedules that meet guest and team member needs, with guidance from store leaders.
  • Plan recruiting and staffing efforts to help store leaders hire candidates with the right skills and experiences.
  • Be approachable and available for the team, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and team members feel heard.
  • Deliver HR processes and programs to maximize team member engagement and minimize business disruption.
  • Provide a comprehensive orientation for new team members to enable excellent guest service.
  • Execute the store staffing strategy, including recruiting, hiring, and onboarding, with guidance from leadership.
  • Understand and reinforce store-specific employment laws and policies.
  • Support staffing systems, scheduling systems, and pay practices.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations, holding team members accountable.
  • Understand financial objectives to maximize profitability and achieve area-specific and store goals.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Lead a safety culture by modeling safe behaviors, correcting hazards, and ensuring accountability.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application.
  • Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience.
  • Address all store emergency and compliance needs, including claims management and return-to-work programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience using automated scheduling, timekeeping, and workforce management applications is preferred but not required.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision-making, and financial/quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Effective communication skills and a welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately.
  • Frequently lift or move merchandise up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance.
  • Climb up and down ladders as needed.
  • Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, overnights, and peak shopping times; reliable and prompt attendance is necessary.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $23.75 - $25.75 per hour. The full pay range is $23.75 - $40.40 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
