Human Resources Manager (Industrial / Aluminum Manufacturing)
Position Overview
As Human Resources Manager, you'll be a strategic and operational partner for a unionized facility of 1300+ employees—driving engagement, labor relations, talent strategy, and continuous improvement in a 24/7, high-performance manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership: Partner with plant and senior leadership to translate business objectives into actionable HR initiatives and annual strategy plans. Serve as a trusted adviser and coach, ensuring HR projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Labor Relations: Lead union relations for a large, complex operation. Ensure CBA compliance, proactively manage local labor issues, negotiate agreements, represent the company in grievance hearings/arbitrations, and cultivate a positive partnership with the USW and other unions.
Talent Strategy & Development: Oversee workforce planning, talent reviews, succession planning, and performance management cycles. Champion staff development, talent renewal, and training programs to build a “talent mindset” at every level.
Employee Engagement & Culture: Lead initiatives to foster an inclusive, engaging, and high-retention work environment. Analyze engagement trends and drive improvements in operational excellence and lean manufacturing culture.
HR Operational Excellence: Ensure flawless execution of HR operations, drive compliance (EEO, ADA, FLSA, FMLA), and support continuous improvement across all HR programs. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and internal policies.
Leadership: Manage a team of HR business partners and specialists, setting clear goals, supporting development, and modeling integrity and accountability.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; Master's/HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP/CP) preferred
Minimum 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 8 years focused on labor relations/unions and 5+ years in HR leadership
Demonstrated expertise in employee/labor relations, union contract management, team development, and talent strategy
Prominent ability to lead change management initiatives and partner with leadership across large, multi-site operations
Strong emotional intelligence, communication, and relationship-building abilities

Reports to VP, HR & Labor Relations (Rolled Products North America), dotted line to Director of Manufacturing (Tennessee Operations)
Must be able to occasionally support on weekends/evenings (24/7 Operation)
US work authorization required; Export Control compliance applies (ITAR/EAR)
Full-time, onsite; relocation and interview travel reimbursement available
