Summary
The Human Resources team support Sorenson Engineering by delivering proactive, responsive, and strategic people practices. This role manages day-to-day HR functions with a focus on employee support, compliance, and continuous improvement. Works closely with management to develop and maintain a high-performance workplace culture grounded in professionalism, accountability, and respect.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance reviews, employee relations, and offboarding.
- Maintains accurate HR records, data entry and reporting.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws including but not limited to wage & hour, benefits, leaves of absence, and workplace safety regulations.
- Adds to the team's knowledge by participating in HR audits, compliance activities, and internal initiatives (e.g., training).
- Maintains and communicates the employee handbook, company policies, and procedures.
- Oversees and supports timekeeping systems and ensures compliance with wage and hour regulations.
- Partners with safety and facilities teams to support workplace safety initiatives.
- Maintain exemplary attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
- Operates fully on-site and provides in-person support across all departments.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge And Abilities
- Solid understanding of HR best practices and employment law.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and HRIS/ATS platforms.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills to manage and de-escalate workplace issues effectively.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and maintain employee trust.
- Experience supporting change initiatives and helping teams adapt to evolving business.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
- Experience in a Human Resources function, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department of the facility.
- Occasionally exert push force up to 20 pounds.
- Good eyesight and hand dexterity, and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
- Within safety guidelines, there will be exposed to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
