About the role
We're looking for a Human Resources Generalist with a strong background in ERISA-governed benefits to join our team. The right candidate will excel at explaining complex benefits in plain language, care deeply about equity, and have a firm understanding of the relationship between total compensation and performance. You will partner with the Director of People and Culture, coordinate with Accounting leadership and external advisors to advise and support leadership and staff, specializing in ERISA-governed benefits. Your role will include communications strategies, reporting, compliance oversight, and serving as a trusted partner for benefits-related needs. You'll also support staff by advising on policies, creating and co-leading trainings, and coaching team members as a senior member of the People & Culture (HR) team.
Responsibilities
- Lead audits, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain strong documentation for ERISA-governed benefits and retirement plans
- Manage compliance testing and reporting processes such as Form 5500, ADP/ACP, and 409(p)
- Develop and implement communications strategies to explain complex benefits in plain language
- Advise leadership and staff on benefits, policies, and approaches that align with the organization’s mission and values
- Serve as a trusted partner and advocate for employees while representing the voice of the company
- Create and co-lead trainings and coaching sessions for staff and managers
- Collaborate across teams to develop strategies and creative solutions for HR-related challenges
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, organizational development, human resources, economics, accounting, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 8+ years of Human Resources experience, including at least 4 years working with ERISA-governed benefits and retirement plans
- Strong knowledge of qualified retirement plans and ERISA laws
- HR certification required (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR); retirement plan certifications such as CPSP, QKA, or QPA preferred
- Proven ability to coach and mentor staff while collaborating across teams
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail

Pay
We are targeting a salary range of $81,000.00 to $91,000.00 for this position. Exceptionally qualified candidates may qualify for more.
