About the Role
Catholic Charities is seeking a HR Generalist to contribute to the company’s performance by providing tactical and strategic consulting on people and organization development strategies in support of business objectives. This role supports and counsels employees and leaders on routine employee relations issues, including policy interpretation, performance improvement, investigations, and terminations.
Responsibilities
- Drive the development of HR-related strategies and ensure implementation and execution.
- Align HR plans with functional business strategy and recommend changes to the VP of Human Resources.
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives, bringing expertise and feedback.
- Assist and guide managers and employees on Human Resource policies, programs, and practices.
- Interpret and communicate policies and policy changes.
- Lead employee relations groups (e.g., focus groups, improvement teams) to foster positive relationships.
- Act as a liaison between employees and HR on disciplinary, grievance, benefits, leaves of absence, and other policies.
- Coach senior leadership on compliance with policies, contracts, agreements, and laws.
- Coordinate compliance with civil rights laws.
- Serve as a change agent to support organizational effectiveness and HR practices.
- Provide guidance on restructuring activities (e.g., redundancy policies, staffing, outsourcing).
- Follow the end-to-end performance management process, including goal setting, feedback, and development planning.
- Address underperformance by coaching leaders and guiding performance improvement processes.
- Drive leadership development programs to maximize workforce productivity.
- Make recommendations on wage, salary, and incentive decisions.
- Liaise between HRIS, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and leadership to support internal client needs.
- Provide feedback to improve HR services and processes.
- Collect, organize, and interpret workforce data to inform business decisions.
- Utilize employee feedback surveys (Onboarding, Exit Interviews, Engagement) to monitor workforce trends.
- Facilitate New Hire Orientation and coordinate training programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in Human Resources handling employee relations.
- Professional certification (SHRM CP/SCP or HCI PHR/SPHR).

- Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws, workplace investigations, and policy development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of discretion and commitment to confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to discuss difficult issues with candor and kindness.
- Strong consultative skills to identify strategic objectives and design solutions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience working with HR Information Systems.
