This position supports the Human Resources team by assisting with professional-level duties and functioning as an HR Generalist to advance department goals. The role serves approximately 420 employees and may cover employee relations, training, recruitment, employment equity programs, and administration of health and retirement plans agency-wide.
Responsibilities
- Develop and conduct presentations, trainings, and workshops on HR initiatives and topics.
- Lead training and development programs to bridge skills gaps and support employee fulfillment and success.
- Assist HR leaders with employee relations matters, including concerns, workplace issues, investigations, conflict resolution, and consistent application of policies.
- Partner with HR leadership and stakeholders to conduct system implementations (project focus over the next 18 months).
- Create, implement, and facilitate independent project work in specialized areas of human resources regulations.
- Assist in administering the compensation plan by evaluating best practices and legal developments to drive equity plan design and implementation.
- Support recruitment efforts, maintain records, develop recruitment advertising, and coordinate job announcements with advertising agencies.
- Update compensation structures in HRIS and payroll systems, revise job descriptions, and maintain applicant flow records.
- Analyze and organize data to facilitate management decision-making and timely corrective actions.
Skills
- Employment Law Compliance: Knowledge of local, state, and federal labor regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA).
- Technology Mastery: Experience with HR platforms including DelTek Talent Management (Applicant Tracking, Onboarding, Performance Management), Cornerstone (Learning Management System), SmartSheet (Project Management), and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Data and Metrics Analysis: Review workforce reports, turnover rates, and compensation trends to guide agency decisions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; transparent engagement with staff and leadership.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate workplace disputes and handle tough conversations with respect.
- Active Listening: Understand employee concerns and build trust across all departments and levels.
- Discretion and Ethics: Maintain confidentiality with sensitive personnel files and data.
- Time Management: Balance urgent compliance issues, daily administrative requests, and long-term projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Human Resources position (benefits administration experience preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree).
Pay
Exempt position with a salary range of $61,059 – $71,000, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.
Schedule
In-office 4 days per week.
