About the Role

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will work closely with production associates, HR leadership, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient HR operations. You will serve as the first point of contact in the plant for production associates, providing coaching, conflict resolution, and support for workplace issues.

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Work Model: Fully onsite role, Monday - Friday
Supports a 24/7 manufacturing operation
Daily schedule begins at 6:00 a.m. to ensure strong partnership and visibility across production shifts

Responsibilities

  • Performance Management & Development: Collaborate with operations teams to develop and implement strategies that support the company’s business objectives and frontline teams. Provide guidance on performance management processes, including corrective actions, coaching, and counseling for line managers to enhance associate performance and engagement.
  • Labor Relations & Compliance: Guide and coach the operations teams on contract language interpretation. Post and manage job bids, track grievances, and support management in labor relations. Ensure compliance with the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and prepare agendas for labor relations meetings. Ensure strict adherence to federal and state employment laws, including ADA, FMLA, and FLSA. Oversee workers' compensation claims and maintain OSHA logs in coordination with the plant safety manager. Conduct investigations as requested, maintain confidentiality, and provide general administrative support to the HR team. Coordinate and track mandatory safety and compliance training.
  • Talent Acquisition: Partner with operations to strategically select and onboard talent for the Operations team, including sourcing, interviewing, development of orientation schedules, and training preparation. Lead the process in using talent system tools to source and find candidates. Track new hires, job bids, and personnel changes.
  • Associate Engagement: Serve as a resource for production associates, providing guidance on uniforms, lockers, and general inquiries. Organize and execute retirement celebrations and other events.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain accurate, confidential records within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Timekeeping & Attendance Management: Administer the Kronos time and attendance system, ensuring accuracy and addressing system issues. Train users, manage upgrades, and generate reports to optimize utilization. Administer vacation programs.

Requirements

  • Education & Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related major required. A combination of education, training, and experience that results in demonstrated abilities may be substituted.
  • Experience: 2+ years of HR experience required, ideally in a unionized manufacturing environment. Experience with Kronos or similar timekeeping systems is highly desirable. Exposure or experience with talent acquisition or recruiting and onboarding is preferred.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Certifications in HR are preferred (PHR, SPHR, and/or SHRM).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
    • Strong organization, prioritization, and follow-through abilities.
    • Exceptional customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.
