Position Summary

Provide human resources services to management, staff and the public in areas such as recruitment, selection and employment activities, employee relations, employee benefits, classification, compensation, training and development, human resources information systems and records management. Develops, recommends, establishes and communicates human resources services, programs and procedures which recognize and respond to the different needs and concerns of La Posada.

Essential Functions

  • Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in a timely fashion.
  • Affords assistance to units in the use of performance management tools, corrective action plans, and effecting disciplinary actions.
  • Affords assistance to the HR leader with preparing advice and direction to management on the appropriate disciplinary action, including the preparation of documentation; investigates, mediates and proposes settlements of employee complaints and grievances.
  • Affords assistance in the design and delivery of training and development programs.
  • Oversees La Posada’s reward and recognition initiatives; coordinates recognition initiatives in conformance with established policies and procedures.
  • Promotes human resources organizational fitness and vitality by conducting research, analyses and studies to address significant issues and problems related to human resources; recommends or initiates programs, actions or services to resolve problems.
  • Provides training and/or orientations for current employees, new hires and temporary employees on human resources related areas.
  • Analyzes confidential information or situations and prepares recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Conducts research studies, analyzes data, prepares related reports on a variety of topics, and makes recommendations based on findings.
  • Investigates proposed legislation related to specialized areas and makes recommendations for compliance.
  • Serves as backup for payroll functions.
  • Serves as a representative for the department as requested both internally and externally on dealing with human resources matters.
  • Manages and directs the operations of a complex and complicated human resources projects and modules such as integrated human resources information systems.
  • Coincides with reporting capabilities from the various databases maintained or used by human resources such the HRIS system.
  • Participates in cross-training in other areas of human resources.
  • Participates in additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, aligned with qualifications and can be reasonably expected to be completed with minimal orientation.

Skills and Abilities

  • Education: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Education, or Public Administration.
  • Experience: 2 plus years of experience in Human Resources demonstrated experience showing the knowledge, skills and abilities to handle a diverse array of human resources functions, challenges and situations at a variety of levels within a large organization.
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases, and able to learn department specific programs easily.
