About the role

The Human Resources Generalist plays an integral role in our continued growth and success. Under the supervision of the SVP Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a variety of HR daily operations including recruiting, benefits administration, onboarding, offboarding, payroll processing, HRIS management, as well as HR reporting and special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, monitoring and ensuring accuracy of payroll data
  • Collect, audit and upload monthly & quarterly incentives/bonuses into HRIS
  • Serve as the local payroll administrator and subject matter expert for the organization
  • Conduct recruiting activities, including screening, interviewing, and partnering with hiring managers for candidate selection
  • Perform onboarding duties, such as setting up drug screens, conducting background checks, and processing new hire paperwork
  • Assist with benefit administration, including educating new hires and supporting open-enrollment rollout
  • Process and audit employee tuition reimbursements
  • Maintain employee personnel records
  • Reinforce company culture and values, supporting a positive work environment and morale among staff
  • Assist with administering leaves of absence and ADA requests
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve department efficiency and service
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, taxes, and best practices
  • Process billing for all HR function areas
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices

Requirements

  • Two to four years of proven experience as an HR Generalist, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Understanding of Federal, State, and District employment laws, taxes, and regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll processing, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Proficient with payroll software and HRIS (UKG knowledge a plus)
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
  • A high degree of discretion, professional ethics, and judgment in confidential matters and information
  • Ability to communicate the Texas Trust culture and support an engaged work environment
  • Ability to analyze problems, gather pertinent data, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to maintain composure and good judgment when dealing with deadlines, dissatisfied employees, or a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities as needed
  • Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach
  • Requires an organized, detail-oriented self-starter who is able to work independently
  • Strong processing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong listening skills and communication skills
  • Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to member satisfaction
  • Required to handle all member and employee information in a confidential manner
  • Professional written and verbal communications skills
