Job Summary

Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the organization’s human resources operations. Responsibilities include managing employee relations, benefits administration, leave programs, workers’ compensation claims, and ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. The Human Resources Generalist also serves as a cross-functional resource by providing backup support for credentialing activities and assisting with recruitment functions as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manages employee relations, benefits administration, leave programs, and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Serves as the primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators, communicates directly with employees and vendors, and ensures mutual understanding of provisions, benefits, and HR requirements.
  • Monitors and processes group insurance invoices for payment, identifies benefits enhancements, participates in benefit vendor negotiations, and conducts annual open enrollment.
  • Assists with FMLA, HFLL, and TDI administration, ensures compliance with applicable regulations, and provides resources for employees and managers regarding leave processes and requirements.
  • Receives incident reports, coordinates review with the HR Director, reports claims to the carrier, maintains required documentation, and supports employees and managers throughout the workers' compensation process.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the employee onboarding and orientation process, develops and maintains orientation materials, and supports the design and enhancement of the new hire experience.
  • Supports the implementation and rollout of performance management programs and processes, provides guidance, resources, and administrative support related to performance reviews and goal setting, and assists with tracking performance review timelines and maintaining related documentation.
  • Serves as backup support for collecting and maintaining contractually compliant documentation for all employees for initial and re-credentialing, monitors credentialing requirements and deadlines, and ensures timely and accurate completion of offboarding tasks and documentation.
  • Maintains employee records and HR databases, ensures accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information, processes Personnel Actions in various HR Information Systems, and performs onboarding and offboarding tasks.
  • Supports routine HR reporting, workforce metrics, audits, and data requests, maintains data integrity across HR systems and personnel records, and assists with employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Provides administrative and operational support to the Talent Acquisition Specialist throughout the recruitment process, supports recruitment initiatives and hiring activities, and maintains a primary focus on HR operations and employee support.

Benefits Administration

  • Administers group insurance programs; processes claims, terminations, and status changes; follows up on claim issues.
  • Communicates directly with employees and vendors to assure mutual understanding of provisions, benefits, and HR requirements.
  • Develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.
  • Conducts annual open enrollment.
  • Participates in negotiations with benefit vendors/carriers to achieve the best value for the company.

Leave Administration

  • Affords assistance with FMLA, HFLL, and TDI administration.
  • Serves as a resource for employees and managers regarding leave processes and requirements.

Workers' Compensation

  • Receives incident reports and coordinates review with the HR Director.
  • Reports claims to the carrier in a timely manner and maintains required documentation.
  • Provides regular follow-up on open claims and supports employees and managers throughout the process.
  • Assists with return-to-work coordination as appropriate.

Orientation & Employee Experience

  • Coordinates and facilitates the employee onboarding and orientation process.
  • Develops, maintains, and continuously improves orientation materials and onboarding resources.
  • Supports the design and enhancement of the new hire experience to promote successful employee integration and engagement.
  • Promotes a positive and consistent onboarding journey by partnering with managers.

Performance Management Support

  • Supports managers by providing guidance, resources, and administrative support related to performance reviews and goal setting.
  • Assists with tracking performance review timelines and maintaining related documentation.
  • Supports employee development and performance improvement initiatives as directed.

Credentialing

  • Serves as backup support for collecting and maintaining contractually compliant documentation for all employees for initial and re-credentialing.
  • Assists with monitoring credentialing requirements and deadlines to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of offboarding tasks and documentation.

Record Keeping & HR Administration

  • Maintains employee records and HR databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Processes Personnel Actions in various HR Information Systems (ADP, Central Reach, etc.), including but not limited to pay rate changes, position/personnel/service code updates, and terminations.
  • Performs onboarding and offboarding tasks.
  • Supports routine HR reporting, workforce metrics, audits, and data requests.
  • Maintains data integrity across HR systems and personnel records.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employees, addressing concerns, responding to inquiries, and assisting with workplace issues.
  • Supports positive employee relations and promotes a respectful, inclusive, and engaging work environment.
  • Assists with employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Supports employee communications, feedback initiatives, and retention efforts.

Recruitment Support

  • Provides administrative and operational support to the Talent Acquisition Specialist throughout the recruitment process.
  • Supports recruitment initiatives and hiring activities as needed while maintaining a primary focus on HR operations and employee support.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations related to employee benefits, leave administration, and employee relations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, Medicare, and Social Security.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with HRIS systems, preferably ADP WorkforceNow.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Demonstrated ability to support employee engagement, employee relations, and HR initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, with exposure to employee relations, benefits administration, HR operations, or related HR functions.
  • Experience supporting employee onboarding, HR programs, or employee engagement initiatives preferred.
  • Experience with benefits administration, leave administration, or workers' compensation preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with ADP Workforce Now (preferred but not required).
  • Previous credentialing experience (preferred but not required).
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification (preferred but not required).
