As an HR leader, you will provide HR support for field locations in NJ, PA, MD, DE, WI, OH, IN, IL, MI, and KY. The position will be based in Whippany, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an expert consultant to all levels of management and employees on work-related issues, employment law, and policy interpretation.
- Provide advice and guidance to line management on employment-related issues (e.g., coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions) to minimize/mitigate company risk.
- Guide and counsel during the hiring process for field management employees, ensuring new hires align with Suburban Propane’s vision and values.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day employee management, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Provide consultative services to employees regarding employment policies and procedures.
- Partner with HR Management to drive business change initiatives and support business programs and policies.
- Conduct and/or facilitate educational training on staffing, retention, government compliance, and company policies or procedures.
- Travel 30-50% of the time with little or no advanced notice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant, progressive HR experience.
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations and employment laws, including EEO, FMLA, ADA, AAP, FLSA, and other legal practices/policies.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing high-priority demands, and meet strict deadlines.
- Professional demeanor under pressure, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels while maintaining urgency and exceptional service.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and confidentiality skills.
- Ability to establish credibility and rapport with colleagues at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pay
$90,000 - $100,000 per year (depending on experience).
