Human Resources Field Manager

As an HR leader, you will provide HR support for field locations in NJ, PA, MD, DE, WI, OH, IN, IL, MI, and KY. The position will be based in Whippany, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an expert consultant to all levels of management and employees on work-related issues, employment law, and policy interpretation.
• Provide advice and guidance to line management on employment-related issues (e.g., coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions) to minimize/mitigate company risk.
• Guide and counsel during the hiring process for field management employees, ensuring new hires align with Suburban Propane’s vision and values.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day employee management, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
• Provide consultative services to employees regarding employment policies and procedures.
• Partner with HR Management to drive business change initiatives and support business programs and policies.
• Conduct and/or facilitate educational training on staffing, retention, government compliance, and company policies or procedures.
• Travel 30-50% of the time with little or no advanced notice.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant, progressive HR experience.
• Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations and employment laws, including EEO, FMLA, ADA, AAP, FLSA, and other legal practices/policies.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing high-priority demands, and meet strict deadlines.
• Professional demeanor under pressure, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels while maintaining urgency and exceptional service.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to establish credibility and rapport with colleagues at all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pay

$90,000 - $100,000 per year (depending on experience).
