Human Resources Director

About the role

The Humane Society of Missouri is seeking a Human Resources Director to support the people who help our animals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for both animals and people, with a strong background in HR management.

Responsibilities

• Advise managers on employee issues and employee relations activities
• Ensure compliance with employment law
• Administer benefits for medical, disability, life, and FSA plans
• Manage ADP payroll, benefits, and time-off modules
• Handle disciplinary actions and FMLA administration
• Oversee workers' compensation, including incident reporting
• Recruit and interview veterinarians and management positions
• Create or update policies for the employee handbook
• Manage compensation and respond to unemployment or discrimination claims
• Address OSHA complaints or related activities
• Plan and implement employee appreciation events
• Provide supervisory training (preferred)

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of manager or director-level HR experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong relationship-building, organizational, and communication skills
• Passion for animals
