About the role
The HR Coordinator will schedule and deliver new hire orientation/onboarding, perform hourly new hire data entry, and collaborate with recruiters on pre-employment tasks such as validating rehire status, job previews, and paperwork completion for hourly employees. This role also provides clerical support to the HR team, acting as the first point of contact for current employees and walk-in applicants.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and deliver hourly new hire orientation to ensure new employees understand Company policies and procedures; ensure all required new hire paperwork and information is valid and correctly entered into Workday.
- Coordinate, conduct, and follow up on onboarding tasks to ensure timely and accurate data entry.
- Check rehire status at time of application in Workday and other historical databases; merge records if needed.
- Partner with recruiting to schedule new hires for orientation, paperwork completion, job previews, and other pre-employment tasks to ensure a positive new hire experience.
- Screen job bid candidates, schedule interviews, and present offer letters for successful applicants; ensure manual offer letters are loaded into Workday.
- Act as the first point of contact for walk-in applicants, answering basic HR policy questions or directing them to the appropriate team member.
- Perform miscellaneous departmental tasks (e.g., badging, resolving social security issues, I-9 completion, Pay Card administration, WOTC).
- Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement to streamline efficiency.
- Follow and promote all safety initiatives, including wearing appropriate PPE where mandatory, to maintain a zero-accident culture.
- Assist with employee engagement activities as requested.
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated relevant clerical experience; HR field experience strongly preferred.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Workday or similar HCM systems preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) with internal and external customers; multilingual skills preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, tact, discretion, and a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Self-starter with strong initiative, sense of urgency, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
- Willingness to work non-standard hours (e.g., holidays, weekends, extended shifts) as needed.
