About the role
As a Human Resources Business Partner I, you will align HR practices with business strategy, anticipate and respond to business needs, and support leadership through organizational change. This role involves workforce planning, associate and labor relations, learning and development, legal compliance, and HR metrics analysis.
Responsibilities
- Maintain working knowledge of the business, including Engineered Standards, to ensure alignment between business strategy and HR practices.
- Proactively anticipate and respond to the needs of the business through effective verbal and written communication with associates and leadership at all levels. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Provide responsive HR support with strong business acumen to maintain excellent customer satisfaction.
- Partner with the business to assess, plan, and navigate organizational change to achieve desired results.
- Support leadership and operational changes by implementing organizational development and effectiveness initiatives in collaboration with HR Management and Learning & Development.
- Meet with the Distribution Center (DC) Management team to understand business goals and anticipate future staffing needs, ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
- Strategize with management to recruit new hires based on production requirements, including sourcing, interviewing, and selecting external candidates up to the Supervisory level.
- Administer internal recruitment and selection processes, including bargaining unit positions, GWA Transfers, Premium, and Bid Awards.
- Develop and implement alternative staffing sources and represent the company at job fairs.
- Promote a positive work environment by managing conflicts through timely and effective resolution.
- Conduct internal investigations, including case intake, preparation, witness and subject interviews, and completion of investigation reports. Present findings to senior HR partners for final recommendations.
- Conduct monthly rap sessions with Home Office non-exempt staff.
- Support Associate Relations & Labor Relations by administering and advising on company policies, procedures, union contract administration, and benefit programs.
- Provide counseling and recommend resolutions for associate/supervisory issues, both union and non-union.
- Ensure Open Door, diversity, and other values-related issues are resolved effectively.
- Conduct interventions, fact-findings, and conflict resolution as needed.
- Counsel associates and provide referral resources for work-life balance (TJX Associate Assistance Program).
- Partner with Learning & Development (L&D) to ensure effective training and development of supervisors and associates on the floor.
- Conduct new hire orientations as needed and provide coaching and development recommendations for non-exempt associates and DC Supervisors.
- Consult with L&D to address operational issues such as work methods, productivity, and new hire follow-up.
- Stay abreast of and enforce compliance with employment laws.
- Partner with senior HR Business Partners to address potential Position Eliminations/Reductions in Force (RIF) and other litigious matters.
- Support responses to claims filed with external agencies (DOL, EEOC).
- Generate and analyze HR metrics to monitor HR performance and take action to address gaps or leverage strengths.
- Monitor and conduct attrition trend analysis, developing retention strategies as needed.
- Coach and counsel supervisors on linking individual and organizational goals, clarifying performance expectations, and accountability.
- Collaborate with HRAs to organize GW New Hire Orientation, Background Checks, and Drug Tests.
- Support Community Relations and morale-building activities.
- Serve as a cross-trained backup for Payroll and Benefits (Kronos & Oracle).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent HR-related job experience.
- Knowledge of HR and labor laws at the state and federal level.
- Experience handling confidential information.
- Ability to balance strategic and tactical thinking for "big picture" HR operations.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts based on business needs or vacation coverage.
- Knowledge of HRIS and Payroll Systems (Kronos and Workday preferred).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish/French/Vietnamese/Gujarati) is a plus but not required.

Pay
This position has a starting salary range of $71,300.00 to $89,100.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
