Human Resources Business Partner
About the Role
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides technical expertise across a wide range of HR areas such as employment and labor law, employee relations, labor relations, leadership development, organizational development, strategic HR planning, and partnership with the business. They contribute to the overall human resources strategy, lead organization-wide HR projects and initiatives, and are responsible for day-to-day HR activities for their region. The HRBP serves as the first line of partnership to managers and employees on all HR matters, addressing complex issues and ensuring training, development, and performance management objectives are met.
While based in the Pittsburgh area, the position requires 50% travel to facilities in both the USA and Canada. A strong manufacturing/industrial industry background is required.
Responsibilities
- Regularly meet with Plant Managers and Leaders to provide coaching and strategic advice on all HR matters.
- Complete monthly HR dashboards to review with Plant Managers, providing insight into trends affecting the business for data-driven decision-making.
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries about HR policies, processes, and Dayforce.
- Lead or assist with employee relations issues, investigations, and complaints; resolve disputes and provide recommendations on disciplinary processes.
- Maintain timely and accurate employee data in HRIS (Dayforce) and payroll trackers.
- Process employee changes such as transfers, promotions, terminations, job classification updates, and salary increases in Dayforce; document and communicate changes.
- Partner with leaders and Talent Acquisition on hiring needs, talent pipelines, and recruitment processes, including job descriptions, postings, and interviews.
- Develop training and development programs in partnership with regional leaders, the VP of HR, and external vendors to enhance leadership and employee capability.
- Ensure successful rollout of annual/cyclical processes (succession planning, performance management, compensation) and monitor completion rates; provide guidance and training as needed.
- Lead and support strategic HR initiatives in partnership with senior leadership and the HR team.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and government regulations (Federal/State in the US and provincial in Canada); stay current on regulatory changes.
- Conduct disciplinary meetings, terminations, and exit interviews; prepare associated documentation.
- Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure compliance with document collection and retention requirements.
- Conduct employee orientation and onboarding, including administering new hire paperwork and inputting data into HRIS.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- University or College Degree in Human Resources.
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience.
- HR Designation achieved or in progress.
- Experience working with a large hourly workforce in a plant environment.
- Strong manufacturing or industrial industry background.
- Valid passport.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May be required to stand in place on the shop floor for periods of time.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time (US and Canada).
