About the role
Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support our Midwest multi-site operation in Michigan and NW Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an HR generalist (excluding payroll and benefits).
- Leverage strong relationship building skills to navigate business opportunities/ideas/concerns from team members, management, and senior leadership.
- Manage labor relations for 2 Union collective bargaining agreements.
- Develop and build relationships at colleges and trade schools.
- Handle all employee relations issues including investigations.
- Cook up and deliver training sessions on various HR-related topics, including compliance, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Aid in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that align with best practices and legal regulations.
- Will travel (approximately 15-20%) to all regional branches on a quarterly basis.
- Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR or related discipline highly preferred.
- 2+ years of progressive HR experience is a must.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive and friendly demeanor.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Previous labor relations experience is a plus.
- Must have a passion for HR.
- Great verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be great with people!
- Must be comfortable speaking with large groups of employees or presenting to the management team.
- Understand HR policies and programs, benefit plans, communicates and reinforces organization values.
- 2+ years of HRIS experience.
- Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and automobile insurance.
- Computer programs: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; UltiPro.
- Language skills: High - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical skills: Intermediate - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning ability: High - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Regularly will sit; Frequently will stand, walk, climb or balance, talk/hear; Occasionally will use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- No special vision requirements.
- Regularly will lift up to 25 pounds; Occasionally will lift 26 to 50 pounds.
- Work Environment: Regularly will work near moving mechanical parts; Occasionally will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
