About the role
The HR Operations team provides on-site support for 50+ distribution centers, focusing on talent development, workforce planning, and various HR functions including engagement, recognition, performance management, and more. They play a crucial role in UNFI's transformation journey by developing and retaining the right talent.
Responsibilities
- Record, maintain, and report human resource information confidentially.
- Oversee the human resource database, ensuring accurate records and compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Maintain and update new hire paperwork and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Forward employment verification forms and process unemployment claims as required.
- Respond to associate questions and problems promptly and courteously.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and working relations with company personnel and management.
- Aid in onboarding and offboarding associates, including provisioning and assisting with supplies.
- Support cyclical HR processes such as merit, talent management, performance reviews, and annual enrollment.
- Provide resources to associates regarding pay, benefits, and human resource policies.
- Afford support for associate engagement activities and stay updated on relevant human resource developments.
- Assist with HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Business preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of professional business experience required.
- Working knowledge of Federal, state/provincial, and local employment laws.
- Basic understanding of talent acquisition techniques, compensation, and benefit policies.
Qualifications
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
- Well organized and able to prioritize and multitask.
- Basic understanding of human resource functions.
- Ability to meet deadlines accurately and efficiently.
- Accurate and attentive to details.
- Ability to assist and support others.
- Good judgment required for decision-making.

Pay
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including education, experience, training, and requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Schedule
Some travel may be required (up to 10%). Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
