About the role

This is an on-site, hybrid role split 50/50 between Human Resources administration and Recruitment. Some local travel may be required.

Knowledge and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years of sourcing/recruiting experience required; high-volume recruiting preferred
  • 2 years of progressive HR experience required
  • Experience with HR databases and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS); UKG knowledge preferred
  • Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, stress, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with various selection processes (phone interviewing, reference checks, etc.)
  • Experience with job boards (Indeed, Career Builder, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Understanding of HR practices and policies
  • Labor union environment experience preferred
  • Transit environment experience preferred

Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Serve as the primary contact for onboarding new employees to ensure full integration
  • Assist with launching background checks for candidates
  • Collect candidate documents such as MVR reports and appropriate driver licenses; work with the safety department for approval
  • Monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices
  • Review onboarding documents to ensure completion
  • Assist with HR projects as assigned
  • Conduct company information presentations during orientation
  • Update various administrative reports for distribution to clients and management
  • Conduct audits as directed by the HR Manager
  • Maintain integrity in dealing with internal and external customers
  • Keep employee information confidential
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Recruitment

  • Work with the Recruiter in candidate sourcing and interviewing
  • Source and recruit candidates using databases, social media, job boards, etc.
  • Screen resumes and job applications
  • Conduct interviews using reliable recruiting and selection tools/methods
  • Assess applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience, and aptitudes
  • Maintain detailed documentation on candidates’ progress in the recruitment database
  • Prepare recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate sources
  • Research and contact community services, employment agencies, and internet sources to build applicant pools
  • Conduct phone screenings and in-person interviews; analyze and document responses
  • Evaluate candidates by discussing job requirements and qualifications with management
  • Create job offers and track recruitment progress
  • Communicate with local management and corporate recruitment staff
  • Promote the company’s reputation as a “best place to work”
  • Perform other administrative duties as needed

Employee Engagement

  • Assist with internal communications tools to improve engagement and build an inclusive, supportive workplace
  • Assist with events and projects related to organizational culture development
  • Coordinate employee appreciation activities

Safety

  • Ensure the Road Traffic Safety Management System (RTSMS) conforms to requirements
  • Ensure RTSMS processes deliver their intended outputs
  • Report to management on RTSMS performance and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization
  • Maintain the integrity of the RTSMS when changes are planned and implemented
