HUCA501: Learning and Development Specialist
All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) volunteer positions. JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda. Membership requires a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
About the role
Under the direction of the Head of Human Capital, the Learning & Development Specialist will plan, organize, and manage training and development activities for all volunteers. This includes assessing training needs and implementing training for existing volunteers, as well as conducting training for all new volunteers joining the JerseySTEM team. Examples of projects include Recruitment workflow training, Recruitment tools training, and partnering with operational leaders for their specific training needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and improve training guides and manuals for a variety of disciplines throughout JerseySTEM.
- Assess training and development needs of the team and recommend new opportunities for organizational improvement.
- Create and implement a methodology to evaluate training results and share with the Human Capital Director and team.
Requirements
- Flexible hours with a 4-6 hours per week commitment for a minimum of 3 months.
- Knowledge and experience with virtual learning approaches, including training program design, development, and execution.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience overseeing HR learning and development projects from needs assessment through to design and implementation.
- Well organized, with strong attention to detail.
- Resourceful and creative.
- Reliable and accountable for achieving results.
- 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, with a specialty in training, learning and development, or talent development.
