Joe V’s Smart Shop, a Division of H-E-B and the largest independent food retailer in Texas, operates 9 stores in the Greater Houston area, generating over $320 million in annual sales. As a Scanner, you'll play a vital role in providing superior customer service while processing transactions and ensuring a seamless shopping experience. Our mission is to deliver the lowest grocery prices in the world, enabling our Customers and Partners to enjoy life’s pleasures.

Responsibilities

• Scan all Customer items and handle financial transactions
• Package groceries
• Provide exceptional customer service, going above and beyond expectations
• Answer product-related questions and offer additional or alternative products and services
• Instruct Customers on using the Cash machine for cash tender
• Comply with Company food safety and sanitation standards
• Participate in total Store operations, including returns, parking lot maintenance, cleaning registers, and front-end merchandising

• Skills:

  • Ability to identify produce
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high productivity standards
  • Dependability, attention to detail, and sense of urgency
• Physical Demands:
  • Constantly stand, reach at waist, and grasp
  • Occasionally walk, reach overhead, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs, and lift/manage up to 35 lbs (with assistance for heavier items)
  • Work in a fast-paced, retail environment with exposure to wet conditions, ambient temperature, and loud noise
