About the role

The HSE Specialist II coordinates, implements, and monitors all aspects of health, safety, and environmental (EHS) processes at various project locations. This role works on complex projects, provides training and guidance, and drives process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Periodically conduct comprehensive EHS assessments and recommend corrective measures for unsafe conditions to project management.
  • Provide training and education to company personnel regarding EHS requirements and recommend advancements to materials.
  • Assist project management in coordinating subcontractor EHS protocols, vendor, and owner personnel working on company projects.
  • Coordinate project EHS programs with subcontractors.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating work to minimize risks and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages.
  • Conduct accident investigations and complete incident reporting for project management review.
  • Establish hospital and clinical care facilities for each project.
  • Accompany injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation, ensuring all EHS protocols are followed.
  • Advise project management on industrial hygiene protocols and perform environmental monitoring.
  • Administer the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, ensuring proper testing for pre-employment, vehicle authorization, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, random, and follow-up.
  • Facilitate orientation of all project employees to the EHS practices required by the company.
  • Provide a weekly safety update to EHS leadership.
  • Administer the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the construction safety field.
  • Some travel required.
  • Required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.
