Hours
HOURS: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM. Initial training will be conducted on day shift for approximately 1–2 weeks from 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Upon transition to second shift, a $2.00/hour shift differential will be added to the base hourly rate.
Job Summary
The HSE Specialist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the health, safety, and environmental practices within our manufacturing facility. The role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs that ensure compliance with regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs in line with local, state, and federal regulations including compliance with OSHA.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures that promote a safe working environment.
- Lead and investigate accidents/incidents, injuries, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence in a timely manner.
- Monitor and track safety performance metrics (e.g., lost-time injury rate, accident frequency) to ensure continuous improvement.
- Lead safety training, meetings, awareness campaigns, and toolbox talks to foster a culture of safety by promoting engagement, accountability, and responsibility at all levels of the workforce.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, maintenance) to implement improvements and resolve safety issues.
- Ensure the facility complies with all environmental laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., waste disposal, air quality, water use, hazardous materials).
- Prepare environmental reports for regulatory bodies and other stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update emergency response plans for various scenarios (e.g., fire, chemical spill, workplace accidents).
- Conduct drills and ensure employees are familiar with emergency protocols.
- Maintain emergency response equipment and materials.
Qualifications
- Work Experience: 2+ years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management within manufacturing, oil & gas, or construction.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) certifications) preferred.
- Related Experience: Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and safety standards.
- Experience with safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership abilities and experience in training and engaging employees.
- Ability to analyze complex situations, identify risks, and develop practical solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and results oriented.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
