Responsibilities
- Develops and assists with implementation of project HSE and regulatory requirements.
- Identifies, evaluates, develops, and delivers project-specific HSE training.
- Aids in the development of project training and district-specific training.
- Reviews project training objectives and project trend action plans.
- Identifies industry statistics and hazards and communicates any expected/anticipated changes to project teams.
- Verifies that hazard identification tools are in place on the project(s) and evaluates areas for process improvement.
- Oversees and conducts formal HSE inspections and audits.
- Provides guidance and coaching to project teams and direct reports on audit requirements.
- Evaluates and verifies that appropriate PPE is being used on project sites.
- Develops specialized PPE training as required.
- Develops and evaluates effectiveness of project emergency response plan and executes crisis communication plan for project(s).
- Verifies that equipment and tool inspections are being conducted and documented as per the program.
- Participates in the investigation process as per the incident investigation matrix and determines when external resources are required.
- Maintains oversight of work injury management and ensures modified work is followed and properly documented.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in OH&S or a related discipline.
- CRSP certification preferred (Canadian Safety Professional).
- ASP certificate preferred (American Safety Professional).
- 9 years of experience in a related industry, with direct experience in HSE.
- 4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
- Strong ability to coach and mentor others.
- Expert knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation related to projects/area.
- Ability to coach and mentor others on HSE processes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills on HSE topics to senior managers and projects.
Pay
The estimated salary range for this role is $125,000 and $165,000, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
