HS Theology Teacher

About the role

Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School, located in Southwest Ranches, Florida (Broward County), is seeking a qualified and experienced educator for High School Theology for the 2026-2027 school year.

This teacher will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for High School Theology in alignment with the mission, vision, and tenets of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for High School Theology.
• Engage students through project-based learning and instructional technologies, including iPads in the classroom.
• Maintain excellent classroom management and student engagement.
• Adhere to the dress code and professional demeanor expected of educators in the Archdiocese of Miami.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Theology or related field from an accredited United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) university/college.
• Working towards attaining a Master's Degree in Theology or related field from an accredited USCCB university/college.
• Must obtain catechetical certification from the Archdiocese Office of Catechesis within three years of hire.
• Knowledge and skill in use of instructional technology, including iPads in the classroom.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar tools is a plus.
• Excellent presentation skills with use of instructional technologies.
• Excellent oral and written English language communication skills, including a clear speaking voice.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing who fully adheres to and models the Roman Catholic Church teachings in faith and moral.
• Must undergo a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse and be granted a determination of eligibility as a condition of employment.
