The Assistant High School Coach instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize individual and team success. The coach must also demonstrate and instruct behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. The role involves upgrading knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Teach and demonstrate skill development as well as advanced techniques.
  • Assist in coordinating and supporting an off-season program.
  • Work with local Recreation programs to develop and increase participation at lower levels and the high school program.
  • Serve as a positive role model for student athletes.
  • Maintain reliable work attendance.
  • Implement and interpret athletic policies, system, state, and league regulations consistently.
  • Communicate effectively and follow the proper administrative line of command for requests or grievances.
  • Attend all required public, staff, or departmental meetings.

Requirements

  • Coaching endorsement or certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
  • Good communication skills.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and sporting events as required.

Pay

$4,863 per year.
