About the role
The Site Floater supports the daily operation of our Head Start program by taking on various roles such as substitute teaching, maintaining the kitchen, keeping facilities clean, and ensuring children are well-fed.
Responsibilities
- Performs duties according to Head Start, NAEYC, CACFP, USDA, Tennessee Child Care Licensing, and Porter-Leath standards.
- Provides classroom coverage for Teachers and Assistant Teachers when they are absent or out of the classroom.
- Assumes responsibilities as the primary caregiver for one group of children, including those with special needs.
- Acts as a role model and mentor to families of children in the group.
- Communicates programmatic issues to Supervisor and Manager in a timely and concise manner.
- Works cooperatively with other staff to create a positive, enriching, and safe environment for children, families, and staff.
- Aids in delivering health, nutrition, disability, education, and family support services.
- Implements daily education procedures and ensures children are engaged in activities suited to their needs.
- Ensures compliance with special diet needs and prepares meals according to USDA recommendations and Porter-Leath requirements.
- Maintains accurate records of attendance, meal counts, and other necessary reports.
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences and home visits as needed.
- Aids in ongoing child evaluations, screenings, and assessments.
- Assists with student files and other classroom duties as assigned.
- Attends professional development opportunities and implements learned strategies.
Requirements
- High School diploma (required)
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, preferred
- Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
- Previous Head Start experience preferred
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience with preschoolers, ages 3-5 years
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)

Pay
$16.00 - $19.00 per hour
