About the Role

This is a home-based position for Texas state-certified teachers who live within the state of Texas. Join us as we expand our virtual learning options, building upon the success of our more than 70 brick-and-mortar campuses across Texas. Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Completed a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in your area of instruction

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of teaching experience in a Texas Public School
  • Experience with mastery-based or individualized learning approaches (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years of virtual teaching experience (Preferred)
  • Two or more years of documented experience teaching online courses for students in Grades 3-12, and successfully completed continuing professional development specific to online learning every three years (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of student knowledge and commit to stretching students’ cognitive capacities
  • Use accomplished pedagogical expertise to execute lessons aligned to state standards while anticipating student needs through progress monitoring
  • Differentiate instruction to personalize learning and proactively minimize confusion or disengagement
  • Deliver instruction that promotes student inquiry, problem-solving, real-world application, and higher-order thinking
  • Establish a positive class climate to create an emotional and social oasis for students
  • Utilize analytical and reflective methods for formal and informal student data
  • Maintain mutual respect with students while ensuring an emotionally safe and supportive learning environment
  • Maintain knowledge of accommodations and modifications required in an IEP or 504 plan
  • Implement accommodations and modifications through appropriate assignments and assessments
  • Partner with special educators to determine appropriate implementation of accommodations for specific content standards
  • Comply with the Texas Educator Code of Ethics, ResponsiveEd Employee Handbook, ResponsiveEd Student-Parent Handbook, and administrative directives
  • Serve as a test administrator during all state testing examination windows and district assessments as needed, which may require overnight travel
  • Perform all other assigned duties

  • Various applications, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Study Island, eSped, Buzz, Google Drive, Blackboard, Zoom Web Conferencing, USA Test Prep

Physical / Environmental Factors

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Occasional district and statewide travel may be required, including overnight stays. Travel expenses follow district and federal guidelines.

Professional Development

  • Virtual staff must attend in-person professional development prior to the start of the school year
  • In-person trainings may also be required throughout the school year

State Assessments

During STAAR and TELPAS state assessment windows (including summer STAAR sessions), virtual staff will proctor/administer student assessments at one of the district’s testing centers. Staff may be assigned to a site near their residence or a location requiring intrastate travel and possibly overnight lodging. (STAAR and TELPAS dates are contingent on TEA direction.)
