Job Duties

  • Conducts psychiatric assessments on clients requiring crisis evaluations.
  • Provides referrals for clients not requiring hospitalization and notifies appropriate persons or referral sources of disposition.
  • Completes required documentation.
  • Ensures all calls for evaluation are responded to onsite within 90 minutes.
  • Completely documents evaluations prior to departure from the ED 100% of the time.
  • Completes prescribed clinical evaluations of clients.
  • Determines the most appropriate level of care based on eligibility and clinical evaluation.
  • Links clients to the appropriate level of care and ensures firm linkage.
  • Documents evaluations, recommendations, and disposition outcomes for clients.
  • Performs psychological assessments, including Mental Health Exam, psychiatric history, family history, substance abuse history, and suicide risk assessment.
  • Evaluates client's presentation of illness, functional level prior to admission, and level of risk.
  • Counsels family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients.
  • Refers patients, clients, or family members to community resources or specialists as necessary.
  • Maintains all required treatment records and reports.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Counseling/Social Work/Psychology or an appropriate human service field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in psychiatric emergency room or crisis intervention and multi-disciplinary setting (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of the DSM IV TR criteria for diagnosing Mental Health / Substance Abuse patients and the Illinois Mental Health Code.
  • Knowledge of Community Mental Health, Rule 132, and the Department of Mental Health.
  • Ability to formulate 5 Axis diagnoses and initial treatment plans.
  • Ability to ascertain client's presentation of illness, evaluate functional level prior to admission, and determine level of risk.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.
  • Detail-oriented and flexible.
  • Effective communication and team relations to provide accurate handoffs in acute situations.

Pay

$45,000 - $47,000 annually.
