What You Will Do in This Role
Facilitates the response to requests for services, including initial responses, assessments, referrals, designation of appropriate levels of care, admissions, and follow-up activities. Conducts initial evaluations, initiates assessments, documents patient symptoms, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MDs for location of care determinations. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in interacting with patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers in a prompt and courteous manner. Possesses thorough knowledge of emergency detention paperwork and processes, as well as EMTALA compliance.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work or counseling required
- RN licensure may be substituted for a master's degree or according to state regulations, or social services designee in Indiana
- In Indiana, an individual with a bachelor's degree is under the supervision of a facility-licensed professional
- Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills required
- Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, or per state practice guidelines. RN license may be accepted but varies by state
- In Indiana, an MSW will be identified as a social services designee and licensed addiction counselor (LAC)
- Valid driver's license and favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance when using personal vehicle
- CPR and CPI certification within 30 days
