About the Role

The HR Specialist performs a wide range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, associate engagement, compliance, auditing, reporting, benefits support, and special projects. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Strong public speaking skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences are essential, along with adherence to all company, safety, and department policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Execute all HR tasks in compliance with internal policies and external laws/regulations; escalate compliance issues as needed.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training programs.
  • Present and manage New Hire Orientation from start to finish.
  • Support associate engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, updating digital communication, and planning associate engagement events.
  • Assist with employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans.
  • Support annual open enrollment process and ensure timely communication of benefit options.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and process updates in HRIS systems.
  • Work with vendors and carriers to resolve benefit-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Prepare and distribute benefits-related communications and educational materials.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records across all HR functions; perform data entry and electronic filing.
  • Prepare reports and assist with audits and special projects.
  • Communicate effectively with associates, management, and external parties; escalate issues promptly.
  • Provide quality customer service and support to associates and guests.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and training programs using effective public speaking techniques.
  • Prepare training materials, agendas, and schedules for orientation and other learning sessions.
  • Utilize Microsoft 365 tools, including PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for tracking and reporting training data.
  • Track attendance and maintain accurate records in HR systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Answer phones and maintain the front desk, greeting and assisting associates who walk in.
  • Assist with Marriott Bonvoy program EID processing and related documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • HR experience, including associate engagement and public speaking.
  • Bilingual (Spanish required).
  • Nevada Gaming License required.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, resolve conflicts, and work with diverse groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance standards, and benefits regulations.
  • Proficient in HRIS and ATS systems; Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Excel); experience with LMS preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Essential Job Functions

Work is performed primarily in an office environment and throughout various property locations. Associates must be able to tolerate variable noise levels, temperature, lighting, and air quality. Noise levels are typically moderate but may rise to loud on the casino floor. Smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and mobility throughout property.
  • Regular use of office equipment (computer, copier, phone, etc.).
  • Regular, predictable attendance required.
