About the Role
The Human Resources Representative assists in the administration of policies relating to all phases of human resources activity including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits explanations, time approval, and HR compliance and administration.
Core Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Responsibilities
- General Human Resource
- Actively learns and familiarizes oneself with current legal and government reporting regulations to ensure human resource and payroll policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Is familiar with employment law, including FMLA, WARN, OSHA, FLSA, and other applicable state and federal laws, and consults the HR Manager when confronted with issues surrounding these laws.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of accurate job descriptions.
- Organize and keep employee digital files up to date.
- Assist in tracking and managing HR data including new hires, terminated employees, etc.
- Advise supervisors and managers in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues for basic issues; escalates complex issues to senior HR team members.
- Respond to general inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Recruiting
- Works with local hiring managers to establish future hiring needs and goals.
- Posts jobs on the company ATS and evaluates potential applicants with hiring managers to determine potential candidates.
- Schedules remote and in-person interviews with candidates to discuss and evaluate their background, experience, skills, and qualifications.
- Schedules background and drug tests, as required, and evaluates the suitability of employment.
- Negotiates and extends job offers.
- Assists recruiters with building feeder systems and relationships with local schools and trade associations to source future candidates.
- Assists recruiters in driving intern programs including recruitment, mentor training, and assessment.
- Acts as a liaison with the local chamber of commerce and other pertinent community organizations to raise the profile of the company in the community and drive a “win local” strategy.
- New Hires and Orientation
- Assists in the delivery of new hire orientation, including the introduction to company policies, benefits, and cultural expectations by supplementing virtual orientation with in-person guidance on key company issues.
- Acts as a positive representative of the company for new hires by presenting an outgoing, friendly, and helpful first impression.
- Creates appropriate onboarding events to properly establish the employee in the HRIS system.
- Assigns employee numbers in the ERP system to accurately track employee job hours.
- Uses the E-Verify system to report new hires.
- Tracks, manages, and appropriately files all onboarding-related documentation including new hire check sheets, supervisor checklists, and benefits information.
- Benefits
- Assists employees in the selection of their benefits programs such as health, dental, life, EAP, and disability insurances; retirement; and PTO.
- Has a strong working understanding of all benefits programs in order to assist with any employee questions or issues.
- Assists corporate in benefits renewal cycles, ensuring proper enrollment, communication, and compliance.
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding benefits eligibility.
- Helps problem-solve employee issues with benefits and serves as an advocate and liaison between employees and company insurance resources.
- Employee Relations and Terminations
- Serves as a trusted resource for employees, addressing concerns, resolving issues, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Notifies the HR Manager and assists in the investigation of employee issues and complaints, following legal and company best practices.
- Manages employee separation notices and related documentation, and advises corporate to send exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Communicates with terminated employees regarding timing of final paycheck, termination of benefits, and COBRA notices.
- Payroll
- Assists with the management of bi-weekly time approval, ensuring PTO is submitted and approved, missing time is accounted for, and all approvals are completed as required.
- Assists employees with questions regarding garnishments and court orders for their local facility.
- Completes employment verification requests.
- Other HR Related Duties
- Contributes to the development of the Human Resources strategic objectives and assists in the execution of the resulting plans and objectives.
- Provides input into the development of HR systems, policies, and programs in support of the organization's culture and overall strategic plan.
- Complies with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Ensures regular and consistent job attendance.
