Job Description And Duties

If you are a self starter, highly motivated, detail-oriented and a team player, we need you! The Human Resources Operations unit has an immediate opening for a Transaction Specialist in Sacramento.

  • Processing personnel, payroll documents, and maintaining a personnel roster of approximately 300 employees
  • Processing and communicating sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality and protecting Personal Identifiable Information (PII)
  • Processing and maintaining attendance records
  • Monitoring and updating of employee’s benefits (health/dental/vision), etc
  • Entering, verifying, and auditing data into the HRIS Oracle system and the State Controller’s and CalPERS decentralized computer system
  • Providing training, information, and guidance to State Fund employees
  • Interpreting laws, rules, regulations and contract provisions independently
  • Preparing reports and special projects

Special Requirements

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
