HR & Payroll Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the full-cycle payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain employee records and payroll data within the HRIS system.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and partner with employees and leadership on payroll-related inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried positions across the manufacturing site.
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Manage the full hiring process, including sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and new hire orientation.
  • Develop initiatives to attract and retain top talent in a competitive labor market.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management on workplace matters.
  • Investigate and resolve employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues.
  • Coach managers on performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee development.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on accountability, communication, and engagement.
  • Administer employee benefit programs and serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related questions.
  • Career coordination open enrollment activities and assist employees with benefit elections and changes.
  • Partner with benefit providers and brokers to ensure effective program administration.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and HR documentation.
  • Support audits, reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Stay current on changing employment regulations and recommend policy updates as needed.
  • Lead performance review processes and support leadership in employee development planning.
  • Implement employee engagement initiatives that promote retention and a strong workplace culture.
  • Support training and development efforts across the organization.
  • Analyze workforce trends and recommend strategies to improve employee satisfaction and productivity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Prior HR experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment required.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll administration and employment law.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms such as Paylocity, Paycom, Paycor, or similar systems.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience supporting a multi-shift manufacturing workforce.
  • Experience implementing employee engagement or retention initiatives.
