HR Intern (Bilingual)
About the Role
The Human Resources Intern (Bilingual) provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team while gaining practical, hands-on experience across multiple HR disciplines. This internship is designed for individuals beginning their careers in Human Resources and offers exposure to recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training, HR systems, benefits, payroll support, and employee communications. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to assist with employee communication, translation, onboarding, and day-to-day HR support. Successful interns may have future opportunities to pursue full-time HR careers with Aviagen.

Responsibilities
- Employee Support
- Serve as a professional point of contact for employees and applicants by answering general HR questions and directing inquiries appropriately.
- Assist bilingual employees by translating conversations, forms, policies, training materials, and employee communications between English and Spanish.
- Help create a positive onboarding experience for new employees.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information at all times.
- Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Assist with job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
- Support employees throughout the recruitment cycle (interviewing, job offers, pre-employment screenings, onboarding, and compliance paperwork).
- Participate in recruiting events, career fairs, and community outreach activities.
- Help prepare recruiting materials and employment advertisements.
- Assist with candidate follow-up throughout the hiring process.
- Onboarding & HR Administration
- Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Prepare employment documentation and personnel files.
- Ensure employee records are accurate and complete.
- Assist with I-9 employment eligibility verification and other new hire documentation.
- Support HR with document preparation, filing, scanning, and record retention.
- HR Systems & Reporting
- Assist with data entry and maintenance within Workday, Kronos, and other HR systems.
- Help generate reports and maintain employee records.
- Assist with tracking training completion and other HR metrics.
- Employee Engagement & Training
- Assist with employee recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and engagement activities.
- Help coordinate meetings, training sessions, and employee events.
- Assist in preparing training materials and presentations.
- Support communication efforts across multiple departments.
- Compliance
- Assist with maintaining compliance with company policies and employment regulations.
- Help organize required compliance documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information.
- Support HR projects as assigned.
- General HR Support
- Provide administrative assistance to HR staff.
- Assist with special projects involving recruiting, training, employee development, and process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Fluent in both English and Spanish with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Preferred:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology, or a related field.
- Previous customer service, office, or administrative experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office or HR software.
Work Environment
- Primarily office environment.
- Occasional travel to Aviagen farm and production locations.
- Frequent interaction with employees, supervisors, applicants, and external partners.
- Professional business environment requiring discretion and confidentiality.
